The public is invited to check out Gallery Main Street’s newest juried art exhibit.

The exhibit, called “Movements of the Mind,” opens today. A reception is scheduled for 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the gallery, at 110 W. Erwin St. in downtown Tyler. It is free and open to the public.

According to a news release, attendees can meet the artists, purchase the artwork on display and enjoy refreshments.

“This is a very different exhibit for us,” Main Street Program Director Beverly Abell said in a news release. “The theme lent itself to some really interesting, soul-searching pieces in a wide variety of media, including 2D and 3D work.”

Gallery Main Street features a new art exhibit every eight weeks.

Ms. Abell also noted that a jazz concert is scheduled this evening at Liberty Hall. The concert starts at 8 p.m.

“These two events, happening one after the other, gives the public an opportunity to enjoy a full evening of entertainment and the arts,” Ms. Abell said. “We encourage people to enjoy the exhibit, have a meal or drinks or dessert at one of our downtown restaurants, and then enjoy the concert in the beautiful Liberty Hall.”

Information about Liberty Hall performances and tickets are available at www.Lib ertyTyler.com. Prospectus for upcoming exhibits are posted at www.Downtown TylerArts.com.

“Movements of the Mind” will be on exhibit through Nov. 3.
