The city of Tyler Fire Department responded to a fire at the 6100 block of Springbrook Drive on Saturday. The initial call for help was received at 6:29 p.m. and firefighters arrived on the scene to find smoke visible in the garage area.
Investigators determined the fire originated in the garage. While the cause of the fire has not yet been determined, it is believed to have started in the area of a chair that had rags and combustibles on top of it.
The garage suffered moderate damage, and there was little damage done to the rest of the residence. According to a news release by the city of Tyler Fire Department, firefighters gained control of the fire by 6:50 p.m. and were able to quickly extinguish the fire.
No one was at home at the time of the fire, but the homeowner has been notified. No injuries were reported.
