The East Texas American Association of Zoo Keepers Chapter will host Bowling for Rhinos from 5 to 9:30 p.m. at Green Acres Bowl on Oct. 22.
The public is invited to to bowl and raise much needed funds for the conservation of endangered rhinos and the ecosystems they inhabit. Rhinos have lived on Earth for over 50 million years, but may not survive the next 50. Rhinos are poached for their horns and poaching is being conducted by sophisticated international criminal syndicates that smuggle horns to Asia.
Green Acres Bowl is offering two squads, with the first running from 5 to 7 p.m. and the second from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Participants should arrive early to get their bowling shoes.
Tickets are $14 in advance on Eventbrite and $16 at the door. Ticket price includes two games, shoe rental and one general raffle ticket. Purchase tickets at http://bit.ly/2e3PWXs.
There are 35 raffle items to give away, with more coming in each day. In addition to the raffle, there also will be a photo booth.
Individuals can support Bowling for Rhinos by becoming an event sponsor, bowling as an individual or team to raise money, or donating an item to be given away as a prize.
All donations are tax deductible, and 100 percent of donated funds go to Bowling for Rhinos’ conservation projects. Check with the event holder to determine what portion of your contribution is deductible.
Since 1990, the American Association of Zoo Keepers has raised over $5 million through Bowling for Rhinos. All the proceeds go to supporting three rhino sanctuaries in Indonesia, Sumatra and Kenya, while also raising community participation with Action for Cheetahs in Kenya.
