A Gregg County sheriff’s deputy seized 28 pounds of marijuana and two loaded guns after detecting a strong odor coming from a car pulled over for speeding.

The driver, Jonathan Dewayne Anderson, 30, of Garland, is charged with possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, said information from Gregg County Sheriff’s Office. His bonds were set at $60,000.

At about 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday, Deputy Tracy Freeman stopped Anderson on Interstate 20 for speeding and smelled marijuana. During a search of the vehicle, Freeman located the marijuana and two loaded guns.
