East Texas remains under heat wave going into Father's Day weekend

The sweltering combination of heat and humidity bogging down East Texas has yet to relent.

The National Weather Service once again extended the heat advisory for most of East Texas. The advisory now runs through 7 p.m. Saturday. Temperatures could feel as hot as 107 degrees in some areas on Friday.

Now in the third day of the heat advisory, residents are looking toward the weekend for some relief.

"This weekend a backdoor cold front will begin to make its way through our areas," KYTX CBS19 Meteorologist Ashley Kramlich said. "As it does there is a slight chance for an afternoon shower for both Saturday and Sunday."

Temperatures will hit 95 on Friday and 96 on Saturday before the humidity factors in. By Sunday, temperatures will drop down a few degrees to the low 90s.

Over all, East Texans are in for a clear, if scorching, Father's Day Weekend.
