Vacation for Veterans will host their inaugural event to raise funds to send veterans on vacation from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday at 18888 Hwy 155 South.
The event will feature a car show, live music, a chili cook-off, games for the family and more. The first 200 people to donate will receive a vacation property. The nonprofit plans to send 200 veterans on vacation in 2016.
Hospice of East Texas will host its Holiday Remembrance Ceremony and Tree Lighting at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30 at the Hospice of East Texas Robert M. Rogers Home Place.
The ceremony will honor the memory of friends or loved ones. There will be a candle light vigil and music by the Al Fine Little Big Band.
Vintage Grace will host its annual “Ladies Night Out Mingle and Jingle” from 7 to 9 p.m. Dec. 4 at Centaur Arabian Farms, 10271 Farm-to-Market Road 2813.
The event will feature entertainment from Out of Darkness, an Altar’d State fashion show, food, shopping and girl time. All proceeds benefit the East Texas Autism Network.
Advance tickets are $15 or $18 at the door.
The Tyler Chapter of The Compassionate Friends will host the 19th Worldwide Candle Lighting for bereaved families at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 at Crossroads Community Church.
Compassionate Friends is a national self-help support organization for families grieving the death of a child. As the candles burn down in one time zone, they will be lit in the next, creating a 24-hour worldwide wave of light.
Hunger for Love is looking for volunteers and donations for its annual “Christmas Under the Bridge” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. The event helps provide a warm and loving Christmas feast for the homeless and under-resourced in Tyler.
Hunger for Love is also accepting donations of coats, toys, socks, gloves, blankets and warm hats.
Achieving Dreams is looking for volunteers to help with its program for adults with special needs. Volunteers are needed from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
