Smith County Hay Show to mark 35th anniversary

The annual Smith County Hay Show this year will mark its 35th anniversary.

A copy of the rules for the 2019 show can be found on the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service, Smith County office, website at smith.agrilife.org under the Smith County Hay Show tab. This year’s show will be Sept. 23 at Harvey Convention Center.

Last year the hay auction at the East Texas State Fair raised over $29,000 to support scholarships, youth activities and conservation efforts in Tyler and the East Texas area, organizers said.

The entry fee per hay sample remains at $3 this year, saving $7 a sample over sending it in for testing on your own. There will be ribbons and recognition at the hay sale for the top 25 bales.

Samples are due Aug. 9-10.

Contact Clint Perkins with the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension office in Smith County, 1517 W. Front St., Suite 116, Tyler, 75702, or call 903-590-2980.
