Downtown Tyler was the recipient of three 2015 Texas Downtown Association's President's Awards at a luncheon held last week at the Texas Downtown Revitalization Conference in Waxahachie.

Tyler won top honors in different categories. The Martin Walker Law Firm won Best Commercial Interior and Heart of Tyler's Black Tie Bingo was named Best Promotional Event.

These are statewide awards, and Tyler was in competition with all communities of 50,000 or more.

Long-time Heart of Tyler volunteer Ingrid Young garnered one of the program's top three awards: Texas Downtowner of the Year.

"This is one of the highest honors a volunteer can receive in the Texas downtown network," said Beverly Abell of the city's Main Street Department. "For more than 20 years, Ingrid has given time, talent, leadership and resources to the cause of downtown revitalization. We are so proud but not at all surprised that this honor has come her way."

Tyler has earned recognition for its revitalization projects over the years. Tyler has received 22 awards, with 16 of those awarded since 2007.
