This athletic American blue heeler mix is eager to have a job and a family to claim all his own.

Ranger is almost a year old and likely would be best suited as the only dog in a busy household.

He loves walks, car rides and the opportunity to show off his smarts in backyard play.

"Ranger is a good boy," said Gayle Helms, executive director of the Humane Society's Pets Fur People.  "He's just a real nice dog."

The reduced adoption fee is $65 and includes spay/neuter surgery, vaccinations, microchip, short-term health guarantee and other incentives.
