The Smith County Precinct 4 Constable's Office is investigating a possible kidnapping attempt in Winona that occurred Thursday evening.
Constable John Smith said two girls between 6 and 10-years-old were walking down their driveway, with their mother watching, to meet their father as he came home around 5:30 p.m. A black sedan pulled up and the occupants of the vehicle attempted to lure the children in but the mother saw and ran over. Smith said the vehicle fled when they saw the mother coming.
Smith said, according to the mother, a female was driving and a male with grey hair wearing a blue shirt in the passenger seat.
The incident happened west of Winona near Farm-to-Market Road 2015 and Farm-to-Market Road 16. The suspects fled in the direction of Red Springs and Lindale.
Smith canvassed the area Friday, but the suspects are still at large.
