RUSK — Rusk residents flocked to the downtown square for the city’s annual Christmas parade and Miracle on Fifth Street event on Tuesday.
The parade, hosted by the Rusk Chamber of Commerce, was themed Christmas in Toyland, with Nell McNatt and Jan Hardy serving as grand marshals.
Miracle on Fifth Street ran in conjunction with the parade. The event included vendor booths, hayrides, bounce houses, hot chocolate, popcorn and a big-screen Christmas movie showing.
Rusk Chamber of Commerce General Manager Tara Tatarski said the parade is an important part of Rusk tradition.
“I feel like the town looks forward to a Christmas parade every year and it brings everyone out, and people that haven’t seen each other in a while get to mingle and chat and everyone just really enjoys it,”she said. “It wouldn’t be Christmas without a parade!”
The parade entry fee was five nonperishable or canned food items for the Good Samaritan in Rusk.
