Twenty-eight Chapel Hill students won 66 medals at the Texas Technology Student Association drafting competition April 11 to 13 in Waco.

The students won 30 first-place, 28 second-place, five third-place and three fourth-place awards.

In the onsite events, Michael Harris and Julio Espinoza placed first in structural engineering and first in architectural renovation model. These results qualified the students for the national competition, which will take place in June in Orlando, Fla.

The school was runner-up in the 3A category for High Point Project, which is based on the number of entries. The school also was runner-up in the 3A category for High Point Project Average, which is based on quality.

Recipients included: Jorge Alanis, Hugo Barrera, Julia Carreon, Cristian Cervantes, Zach Clover, Kaylan Davenport, Erik Espinoza, Julio Espinoza, Cesar Garay, Daniel Garza, Michael Harris, Asar Hasan, Ruben Hernandez, Jake Hooter, Jacob McGaha, Michael McGrath, Luis Mojarro, Ivan Mojica, Ivan Ortis, Luis Ovalle, Wyatt Pritchett, Caleb Runyan, Ricardo Robles, Gio Rodriguez, Aldo Sandoval, Dillon Short, Colton Taylor and Clint Weaver.
