The residents at Meadow Lake Senior Living in Tyler started the long Fourth of July weekend off Thursday with a parade through their community.

The residents and staff circled the complex on golf carts, bicycles and trailers that were decorated with streamers and festive materials to celebrate the upcoming holiday.

The golf cart parade is an annual event at Meadow Lake and the residents look forward to it each year.

Cub Scouts from Pack 359 joined the parade on a trailer and waved flags as they rounded the community. Residents waved and showed Independence Day spirit as the parade made its way through the retirement center.
