Downtown Tyler was crawling Saturday with folks participating in the third annual Blue Santa Pub Crawl.

The Blue Santa program is run by the Tyler Police Department. Police officers are paired with underprivileged children and go shopping with them to buy them their presents of choice directly from the proceeds of the pub crawl.

“You buy a ticket, and you get to crawl around the different locations downtown and get a piece of a Santa costume at each location,” said Holli Forniquet with Visit Tyler.

“The biggest thing about this event is one hundred percent of every ticket sale goes to the Blue Santa program, which goes to help children here in Tyler have a better Christmas,” she said.

Participants met up at ETX Brewing Co. in downtown Tyler to sign up and don blue shirts. From there, crawlers were able to head to any of the other participating locations, Artfix, Don Juan’s, SportsZone Bar and Grill, and Gallery Main Street.

“We wanted to host an event that encouraged people to go around to all the locations in downtown Tyler that they may not have been to before,” Fourniquet said.

Each location offered alcoholic beverages and a portion of a Santa costume in preparation for a final picture at ETX.

Fourniquet stressed that just because you might have missed the event doesn’t mean you can’t give to the cause. Those interested in giving can visit
