In 2017 the Anderson County Crime Stoppers apprehended 37 fugitives as a results of tips that were called in.

Over $9,000 was given out in tip money for the info given on a wanted person of crime tip according to a news release from Anderson County Sheriff Greg Taylor.

The Sheriffs Office was able to recover over $630,000 of stolen property.

The department broke the national average of 12-15 percent of burglaries solved with solving 19 percent.

“I would like to take this opportunity to encourage our citizens to help us prevent

theft and burglaries and to help us catch those who steal,” said Taylor. “Cameras and alarms are always helpful in deterring crime and also in helping catch the perpetrators.”

Taylor also says that knowing the makes, models and serial #’s on all property that is stolen is very helpful in helping them recover the property and prosecute the suspects. He also says it is important to know your neighbors and together watch each other’s property and report suspicious activity.
