During the holiday season, Express Employment Professionals offices across the United States and Canada joined together to Pay It Forward with hiring drives and events to put job seekers to work. The Tyler Express office secured work for 409 people during the holidays. The goal of the drive was to help give encouragement and purpose to as many job seekers as possible by providing them the opportunity to earn a week’s worth of pay before the holidays and help provide for their families. The Tyler Express office cut in half the cost to the companies hiring people during this Pay It Forward event. The Tyler office is accepting applications. PROMOTION

Jason Toole, an employee of East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind, was promoted to production supervisor at Horizon Industries. Toole was selected as the 2014 Direct Labor Employee of the Year and will represent East Texas Lighthouse for the Blind as the nominee for the national Peter J. Salmon Direct Labor Employee of the Year. Toole has worked at the Lighthouse since 2004. The Whitehouse High School graduate started as a cartonizer in production for Horizon Industries before being promoted to a machine operator in 2006, and then to crew leader in 2008. His new position will oversee the direction and coordination of production and plant operations, as well as supporting the production operations staff.

PRODUCER

Drake Real Estate & Investments announced that Chris Wiesinger is its top producer. Before his career in real estate with Drake, Wiesinger spent nine years working with property owners, performing land viability studies, and working with acquisitions across Texas. His knowledge of soil types, aquifers and horticulture makes him a true land specialist and expert. Wiesinger’s thorough understanding of land is critical when it comes to matching clients with the right combination of timber, pasture and particular vegetation. He grew up in Houston and has a degree in Horticulture from Texas A&M University and has written two published books on horticulture. He also is the current owner/operator of Southern Bulb Co.

The Judy Kunzman Team at Keller Williams Realty in Tyler introduced three new full time agents: Hillary Guthrie, Kristi Sampson and Kurt Kunzman.

Kunzman joined the Judy Kunzman Team at Keller Williams Realty to help manage and supervise the office. He is married to Judy Kunzman and has been helping her in her career for the past 15 years. He retired after teaching in the Whitehouse Independent School District for 16 years.

Ms. Guthrie, a Tyler native, joined the team as a dedicated Realtor. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from The University of North Texas. Her background in marketing, along with her knowledge of the local markets, makes her a single point of contact for home buying and selling needs.

NEW HIRE

Lisa Chatterton, a certified meeting professional, was hired as event director, The Office of Institutional Advancement at UT Health Northeast announced. Ms. Chatterton comes to UT Health from Tyler Junior College, where she served as program development manager for corporate services. She has achieved the designation of Certified Meeting Professional. She earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration-marketing from The University of Texas at Austin, as well as an associate’s degree from TJC. She is community service director of the Tyler Rotary Board of Directors and is a Leadership Tyler alumna.

Jeff Johnson also joined UT Health as a senior communication specialist. Johnson an award-winning broadcaster and journalist, and will be responsible for enhancing donor communications. Before joining UT Health, he spent five years as an on-air host, webmaster, audio/video producer and graphic designer at radio stations 89.5 KVNE and 91.3 KGLY. A veteran of the U.S. Air Force, Johnson earned his bachelor’s degree in communications and political science from Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y. He has won seven large-market journalism awards from the Associated Press Broadcasters Association.

PROGRAM

Craig Conser, a partner at Trinity Capital Management, Inc., completed the CRPC Professional Designation Program. Graduates of the program must complete a specialized independent study course that provides a general foundation for giving retirement planning advice to clients. The course covers key issues that occur throughout all phases of retirement planning. The designation is awarded to students after they complete the course, pass a proctored final examination and sign a code of ethics commitment and declaration form.

SEMINAR

Workforce Solutions East Texas and the Tyler Business Education Council will present “The 21st Century Workforce” seminar in Tyler on Feb. 6.

The free event will focus on the future supply of the workforce, the educational system and the employment future. Experts will talk about labor market trends, forecast employment projections, House Bill 5 Education and Certifications programs. Presenters will include Ken Lamartiniere, Region 7 Education Center; and Mick Normington, business specialist for the Labor Market Division of the Texas Workforce Commission. NEW PROCEDURE

Dr. Loyd Dowd, of Tyler Dental Care, announced the arrival of laser gum surgery.  The procedure, known as Laser Assisted New Attachment Procedure is billed as a “no cut, no sew, no fear” option for prospective patients who are seeking to have their gum disease treated in a manner that is less invasive than other available options. It is is an innovative procedure that is significantly less invasive than other procedures available for gum disease treatment. It does not have any need for the use of scalpels or sutures, and is considered to be a convenient alternative to other traditional treatment options.
