There were five building permits that topped $1 million in Tyler this week.

Tyler Independent School District filed a building permit to construct its $27.692 million Career & Technology Education Center at 1750 Bennett Ave. WRL General Contractors, Ltd., of Flint, is the contractor for the 141,680-square-foot, two-story facility.

The city of Tyler filed a building permit to construct the more than $7.2 million Fair Plaza Garage at 208 S. College Ave. Manhattan Construction Co., of Dallas, is the contractor for the four-level, 154,650-square-foot parking garage.

Irving-based Supreme Bright Tyler LLC is constructing a $5.5 million, four-story wood-framed Residence Inn by Marriott hotel at 350 W. Heritage Drive. The building permit includes the new 86,425-square-foot building and site.

MG Pools, of Dallas, filed a permit for a $54,000 pool to be built for the Residence Inn by Marriott.

Tyler Junior College is constructing a 145,000-square-foot Nursing & Health Sciences Building at 1200 E. Fifth St. HCR/Turner JV is the contractor for the $1 million, foundation-only project.

Razzoo’s Cajun Café, based in Addison, is remodeling the 7,612-square-foot building that formerly housed Carretas Mexican Café, at 7011 S. Broadway Ave. Work costs $800,000 and includes remodeling for new finishes, adding new patio deck and fencing and replacing parking areas. Strong Group Inc., of Lewisville, is the contractor.

Dillard’s Inc., of Little Rock, Ark., is remodeling 5,475 square feet of its store at 4901 S. Broadway Ave., for $207,010. Work includes demolishing and constructing partition walls, repairing ceiling, adjusting lighting, sprinklers and power, new finishes and wall décor as required by the new layout for the women’s handbags and accessories departments. CDI Contractors LLC, of Little Rock, is the contractor.

Brad Chesley, of Flint, is building a 6,114-square-foot exercise room for CrossFit at 3515 Star Road in Whitehouse. Total Building Construction, of Whitehouse, is the contractor for the $130,000 project.

MG Pools, of Dallas, is constructing an $115,000 pool for Cumberland Place Apartments, at 2051 W. Cumberland Road.

Burns Commercial Properties is renovating Craig Pharmacy, at 1863 Troup Highway, in Green Acres Shopping Center. Work on the 6,000-square-foot building includes demolishing three walls, building five walls and painting for $41,880. Caliber Associates, of Mineola, is the contractor.

DKT Investments is adding a canopy at Whataburger, 6849 S. Broadway Ave. for $20,000. L&M Construction, of Gladewater, is the contractor.

UT Health Northeast filed a demolition permit for its 1,705-square-foot clinic at 2231 W. Gentry Parkway. Garrett & Associates General Contractors Ltd., of Whitehouse, is the contractor for the $5,520 project.

Sign permits were filed by Rancho American & Mexican Café, 3841 Texas Highway 64 West, $2,715, Design Center Signs; Happy’s Fish House, 2202 Fifth St., $20,000, Design Center Signs; and Expert Tire, 221 S. Broadway Ave., $6,120, Leon’s Signs Inc.

Kent and Stephanie Boozer are constructing a $1.4 million home at 13433 Peninsula Road in Whitehouse. Mike Brattlof Homes Inc. is the contractor for the 14,056-square-foot house.

Mary and Brian Oneill are building a 7,404-square-foot house at 6925 Park Slope for $750,000. Thornton Design & Construction is the contractor.

Steve Thornton is constructing a 3,819-square-foot home at 7070 Calumet Drive for $380,000. Thornton Design & Construction is the contractor.

Johnson Humphrey Homes is building a 3,549-square-foot house at 1602 Cimmarron Trail for $220,000.

Balser Homes Inc. is constructing a 2,680-square-foot home at 3014 Stanford Court for $210,000.

Jim and Ginger Halford are building a $25,000 retaining wall at 13221 S. Hillcreek Road in Whitehouse. Montrose Concrete is the contractor.

A-Z Construction replaced a door for Elizabeth Alexander at 1827 Rickety for $1,407; and James Barnes Jr. at 3200 Shady Trail for $913.

Five people filed applications for approval for construction at Lake Tyler to build fences. They include Don and Cynthia Allen at 1550 McElroy Road in Whitehouse; Gaylon Shackelford at 15512 McElroy; Ann Hightower at 15460 McElroy; Mark Flynn at 15486 McElroy; and Don Allen at 15474 McElroy.

Driveway permits were filed by Jerone Bearden Concrete, 3985 McDonald Road; Gonzales Concrete at 1203 Dreamcatchers; Castillos Concrete at 1304 W. Connally; Soto Concrete at 2519 Meadowglen; and Madden Concrete Service LLC at 1810 and 1812 Robbins St.

There also were six electrical permits, two applications for residential temporary electrical service, one electrical inspection, one plumbing inspection and 12 HVAC permits filed.
