Terell Stafford, professional trumpet player and director of jazz studies at Temple University in Philadelphia, will headline the Tyler Junior College Jazz Festival set for 7 p.m. Thursday and Friday in the college's Jean Browne Theatre.
Also featured at the free festival will be George Faber, musician and Tyler ISD director of visual and performing arts, and TJC jazz ensembles, said a news release from the college.
TJC Jazz Ensemble I includes: Joseph Schmidt, Ben Jordan, Forrest Morgan, Victorial Hiles, Felipe Hernandez, Austin Phelps, Troy Lowndes, Austin Sandefur, Sara Brown, Michael McGee, Hayden Gable, Sam Williamson, Jeff Dees, Shiloh McGraw, Trey Groom, Jonathan Gaspar and Josh Alderete.
TJC Jazz Ensemble II includes: Michael Craig, Brent Boen, David Gean, Josh Holcomb, Thane Lacoste, Angel Galvan, Kyle Bennett, Luis Prieto, Ethan Day, Danny Palmer, Brittney Baxter, Sam Brinlee, Austin Tarbutton, Matt Coats, Nick Avila, Clarence Schwarz and Jordan Wyatt.

On Thursday night the festival will open with Souled Out Jazz Orchestra, an ensemble of area band instructors, and on Friday with Pocket Tangerine, a jazz combo of TJC students, the announcement said.
Stafford will spend Thursday and Friday at TJC conducting clinics with jazz bands including Robert E. Lee High School, The University of Texas at Tyler, Boulter Middle School, Whitehouse High School, Hallsville High School, Moore Middle School, Pewitt High School, Quitman High School and Hudson High School.
