KC choirs present concert on Dec. 1

 

Kilgore College choirs will present “Christmas with Kilgore College” at 7 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, 400 N. Fredonia St., in Longview

Performing with the orchestra will be Kilgore College Chorale, East Texas Community Chorus, Kilgore College Children’s Chorus and Camerata Singers.

The KC Chorale is a mixed ensemble of college students. The East Texas Community Chorus is a 50-voice chorus of high school through adult singers that includes music teachers, music ministers, voice teachers and community members.

The KC Children’s Chorus is comprised of boys and girls in grades five through eight and the Camerata Singers is a women’s ensemble.

The orchestra will be a side-by-side experience with members of the KC Youth and Chamber Orchestra sitting alongside musicians.

Card 53 plans ‘Stuffed’ show

 

The improvisational comedy troupe Card 53 will return to Liberty Hall in Tyler on Nov. 28 with the new show “Stuffed.”

“We thought that, since it is a long holiday weekend, people might need a reason to get out of the house with their family and have some laughs,” said Liberty Hall Manager Anne Payne. “This is definitely something all will enjoy.”

Card 53 performs improvised sketches based on suggestions from the audience. The actors use props and costumes as needed.

The show is 8 p.m. Tickets are available for $15 at LibertyTyler.com and will be sold for $20 at the door.

Peggy Epner art on view at KC

 

Kilgore College Visual Arts Department presents “Make for Home Sky” by artist Peggy Epner through Dec. 4 in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Gallery on the Kilgore campus.

Gallery hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. Admission is free.

Epner, a native of Akron, Ohio, studied fine art at the University of North Texas School of Visual Arts and Design.

Previously, Epner was a theatrical costumer and holds a bachelor of art’s degree in fashion design from Kent State University. She resides in Allen.

Epner makes individual pieces to be viewed as a collective series with each piece acting as a building block of a metaphorical narrative.

This series revolves around the concepts of spiritual and physical journey.

Her work has been included in group exhibitions at Masur Museum of Art in Monroe, Louisiana, and Amarillo Museum of Art.

Pollard Theater’s holiday play set

 

The theater ministry at Pollard United Methodist Church in Tyler is rehearsing “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” for performances in December.

The church’s annual holiday production is set for 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 3 and 4, and 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 at Pollard Theater Center, 3030 New Copeland Road.

The play, with a large cast, tells the story of what happens when a group of unruly children are used in a church’s holiday production.
