Sabor a Pasion vineyard near Palestine will host its annual charity grape stomp, "Stomping Under the Stars," 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday.
"Every vineyard has a grape stomp, just a celebration of the year's harvest," the vineyard's Simon Webster said. "It's a really fun time."
The stomp began in 2011, Webster said. One of several fires in Anderson County during that year's drought came near Webster's bed and breakfast. Elmwood and Montalba fire departments responded.
"The fires came to the bottom of Road 404, the bottom of my drive," Webster said. "Thank God the wind was blowing the other way, but they were here and they were helping and we decided perhaps the best way to donate funds to them is to have the grape stomp every year and they get the proceeds."
Participants can squash grapes onto T-shirts to make custom shirts. The fire departments will have fire trucks for attendees to see.
Entertainment includes music by Jazz Connection and a Lucille Ball look-a-like competition. Webster, a chef, will serve paella, and Granny Muffin Wines will sell wine. Participants can bring beverages in coolers and a blanket or lawn chair.
Tickets cost $40 in advance or $45 at the door.
