The University of Texas at Tyler College of Nursing and Health Sciences will hold the fifth annual Health and Wellness Expo as part of the university's 2015 student appreciation week, Patriot Days.

The campus-wide event will be 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 in the University Center.

"Our kinesiology, health and nursing students will manage a 13-station health/fitness assessment for any UT Tyler student or employee," said Dr. William Sorensen, associate professor and event coordinator. "We had over 200 students, faculty and staff come out last year, and we are trying to engage even more this year. We offer free healthy food samples and information about services."

In addition, UT Health Northeast collaborates by supplying screening equipment for blood glucose, cholesterol and blood pressure checks, and participants will receive a free T-shirt if they complete the health assessment, he added.

Other event sponsors include Aramark, NET Health, Smith County Comprehensive Cancer Coalition and Natural Grocers.
