Women around the world will gather in prayer later this month and several East Texas churches are inviting the local community to be a part.

Seven churches in this region will serve as host sites for Cry Out!, a free simulcast prayer event, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Sept. 23.

Organized by Revive Our Hearts ministry, the event is a part of that ministry’s True Woman Conference, an event held every other year.

Organizers have dedicated the Friday evening of the event, Sept. 23, to prayer. Through Internet connections, host sites around the world will be able to watch and hear the prayer event live as it happens in Indianapolis, Indiana, while participating at their respective locations.

During the three hours, participants will engage in singing, reading Scripture, listening to short messages, and praying in small groups about specific issues.

Although the event targets women, at least one local church’s event is open to men as well.

“Together we’re going to join our hearts and our hands in crying out to the Lord, to plead with Him to have mercy, to intervene in our nations divinely, to turn the hearts of people to himself and to avert the judgment that we know we rightly deserve today,” said “Revive Our Hearts” radio program host Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth in an online promotional video.

Event leaders are Mrs. Wolgemuth; Dr. Bob Bakke, teaching pastor of Hillside Church in Minnesota; and worship artist Josh Davis.

Other participants include filmmaker Stephen Kendrick; Precept Ministries CEO Kay Arthur; pastor, author and speaker Tony Evans; and singers/songwriters Keith and Kristyn Getty.
