Sunday is officially the last Sunday morning Power and Praise Church (of Schambach Ministries International) will hold services on their former lakefront property in Dogwood City.
SMI sold their property on Dec. 9 to downsize the ministry overhead, move to Tyler and concentrate heavily in their missions work around the world.
However, the pastoral team remains committed to serving in the community where they have been planted since 2003.
They have seen success with their monthly "Soul-Food Café" project and their work with recovering people from all walks of life; and, they are committed to that work continuing in the same community.
Power and Praise Church has invited all former church attendees, Bible school students, and fellow-pastors and ministries to attend a dinner at 1 p.m. Sunday. The dinner is designated as a time of celebration for all "The Lord has accomplished on that property," said the Rev. Donna Schambach, pastor, and to look ahead to future ministry.
Pastor Larry and Martha Bewley, of Lakeview Community Church, in Dogwood City, has opened their church facility to Power and Praise.
The two churches, one Baptist and one an independent charismatic, will have their first service combined on Easter Sunday morning at 10:30 am, with both pastors and worship teams participating in the services.
"Both pastors agree that God has a hand in the sharing of the facilities, because both congregations have a great desire to see positive, spiritual change in the surrounding communities," according to the written release. "They are willing to put aside any possible doctrinal differences for the purpose of serving the community with the best of their resources."
After Easter Sunday, Power and Praise will have a new time for their Sunday service: 5 p.m.; and, their midweek service will be Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
Both pastors invite the entire community to the Palm Sunday, 1 p.m. event at the lakefront property of Power and Praise for the last Sunday there; and also, to Easter Sunday services at 10:30 a.m. for a combined worship service at Lakeview Community Church.
