The Cast drama team to perform
Calvary Baptist Church in Brownsboro will host The Cast drama team from Williams Baptist University at 11 a.m. on April 14.
“Growing by Pruning” is the theme as The Cast drama team takes the stage for its 2019 touring season. The Cast, which is the creative ministry team of Williams Baptist University, is presenting a series of sketches that demonstrate how growing spiritually often requires other aspects of life to be trimmed back.
“Just like a gardener who prunes excess branches and dead wood to make plants grow bigger and stronger, our lives should be trimmed of those things that keep us from being all that we should be as Christians,” says Brett Cooper, vice president for creative services & technology at WBU. “There are things we must be willing to set aside, and that is the central message of this year’s Cast program.”
Cooper and Melinda Williams, who directs the WBU theater program, are co-directors of The Cast.
The Cast for 2019 is composed of five WBU students who auditioned for the group at the start of the school year. Most of the fall semester is spent preparing the program, and the team travels to performances during the spring semester.
This year The Cast is scheduled for nearly 20 performances. Cooper says he encourages everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to see The Cast when the group performs in their area.
Williams is a private Christian university in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas.
