People's Missionary Baptist Church, 2908 Bellwood Road in Tyler, will honor Pastor Marcus L. Jackson and First Lady Jackie Jackson with a Black & White Banquet at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Heritage Building, 1900 Bellwood Road. Minister Rodney Curry is the scheduled guest speaker. Jermarcus Walker is scheduled to provide entertainment. A buffet dinner will be served. Cost is $10. On Sunday, the Rev. Reginald Garrett of New Days Community Church is scheduled to serve as guest speaker at 3 p.m. A reception will follow.
El Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, 23871 County Road 244, will celebrate its 165th anniversary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Lesley Smith and the Macedonia Baptist Church will be the special guests. The host pastor, the Rev. Jarrett N. Polk Sr., invites the church's former members, loyal supporters and friends to attend. A meal will be served after morning worship followed by an anniversary dinner after the afternoon service.
The Shady Grove Baptist Church, 12480 Farm-to-Market Road 14, in Tyler will celebrate its 121st Anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Kevin Anthony of Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Longview is scheduled to be the special guest.
Wheatfield will perform at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at WeHope Ranch's Big Green Barn in New Chapel Hill. Solid Rock Baptist Church, 29720 U.S. Highway 69 North, in Rusk, has several upcoming Thanksgiving events and the public is invited to attend. The third Saturday Men's Prayer Breakfast is at 7:30 a.m. Nov. 21 at the church. Men will meet for a time of prayer, thanksgiving and a brief devotional from the Bible followed by breakfast at a local restaurant. At 6 p.m. Nov. 22, the church will have a Gospel Music Concert with the Wills Family. CDs will be available before and after the concert. At 7 p.m. Nov. 24, the church will have a traditional Thanksgiving dinner in the Fellowship Hall. Turkey will be provided with families bringing side dishes and desserts. Those who want to will have the opportunity to share what they are thankful for. The church van provides transportation to the church on Sunday morning for those in Rusk who need it. The Youth Ministerial Alliance at Bethany Word of Life Tabernacle, 6808 Paluxy Drive in Tyler, will present a Thanksgiving program from 10 a.m. to noon on Nov. 22 at the church. Youth Bible Study opens at 9 a.m., followed by praise and worship at 10 a.m. The free event is open to the public. The alliance is designed, in part, to develop youth, ages 6 to 18, into contributing Christian servants in and outside the faith community. The alliance helps young people to learn more about Jesus Christ and other Biblical characters. Landmark Baptist Church, 11125 Texas 248 Spur in Tyler, will celebrate the 37th anniversary of the church and its pastor on Nov. 22. The church will recognize those who have played a vital role in making it a "Lighthouse for Christ." The service will start at 10:30 a.m. and the anniversary meal is scheduled for 12:30 p.m.
Holly Brook Baptist Church, 3219 S. Farm-to-Market Road 2869, in Hawkins, will have its quarterly blood drive Nov. 22 in the Family Life Center. First Baptist Church Hawkins, 210 E. Forest Street, will have the annual Hawkins areawide Thanksgiving service at 6 p.m. Nov. 22. Planned by the Hawkins Area Ministerial Alliance, the service will focus on praise and thanksgiving beyond the traditional Thanksgiving service. Various church leaders and members will lead the service. A fellowship will follow. All worshippers in the community are invited.
Tickets are available for the Ivan Parker Christmas Concert, which will be at 5:30 p.m. Dec. 12 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 501 E. U.S. Highway 80 in White Oak. Doors open at 5 p.m. Cost is $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Children 12 and younger are free. Tickets are nonrefundable.
