FRESH by Brookshire's Steak Cook-Off, Saturday, Tyler: 3rd Annual Charity Steak Cookoff benefiting the East Texas Food Bank.  The Cookoff and festivities will begin at 3 p.m. as local businesses, media outlets and foodies face off in hopes of winning the "Ace of Steaks" championship belt.  Round up the whole gang for an afternoon of fun featuring family games, the Freshpet Strut Your Mutt contest and Freshpet Yippee dog races, a Classic, Hot Rod and Custom Car Show, live music from Stephan Cotter and the C Otters and the Steve Simmons Band.

At 6 p.m. a steak dinner will be served on our back patio.  Tickets can be purchased at FRESH or Cavender's in Tyler, Longview, or Palestine.  Tickets are $15.99 and include a chef-prepared New York Strip, two sides and a roll.  Dinner will be served until 8 p.m.  Quantities are limited so buy your tickets now. All proceeds go directly to the East Texas Food Bank. 

Cinco De Mayo Celebration, Tyler, Saturday: To celebrate Cinco de Mayo, Brookshire Grocery Co. is hosting two culinary students from Tyler's sister city of San Miguel de Allende, Mexico this weekend at two Tyler locations. The students will be at the Rice Road Brookshire's Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and at Super 1 Foods located on Gentry Pkwy from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. They will be teaching authentic Mexican recipes, as well as exhibiting arts and crafts from their city.
