The annual Longview Summer Boat Show is in town this week.

It's sponsored by Plano Marine of East Texas and Nichols Marine and continues through Sunday at Maude Cobb Convention and Activity Center on Grand Boulevard.

After more than a decade of shows, a new vendor, Longview Cycle and Ski, joins the party, said Jeff Gage, Plano Marine General Manager.

“It should be the largest selection of boats in the Ark-La-Tex under one roof,” he said.

The show features a variety of new boats and styles, including surf boats – boats designed to enter the ocean from the beach in heavy surf or severe waves.

“They’re the hot rage, and as always, pontoon boats seem to be the boat to own this year,” Gage said.

With a new vendor, there will be a greater selection of personal watercraft, which are small, jet-powered craft that resemble a snowmobile in appearance and are ridden astraddle for individual use on the water.

The show features free admission and parking. For customers interested in financing, Gage said there are great rates available. He also said manufacturers are offering rebates and other amenities to entice sales.

“I really think it works well for our customers,” he said. “It allows them to shop all brands under one roof in a stress-free environment. … It’s really the convenience of it for our customers.”
