Robert E. Lee: 'USO Show' has weekend performances

Lynn Collyer/Courtesy Robert E. Lee Visual and Performing Arts Department students practice for their upcoming production, “USO Show: Vietnam — A Musical Tribute to Vets.” This is the third USO-type show Lee students have staged. In years past, they’ve paid tribute to World War II and the Korean Conflict.

Robert E. Lee High students will take the stage this weekend for their "USO Show: Vietnam — A Musical Tribute to Vets." The show will continue through Sunday, June 1.

Veterans and their families submitted photos of their service members who were in the service — any branch — between 1965 and 1975.

Those photos will be used in tributes during the show, including a tribute to those still living and a memorial to those who have died.

The show will feature music and dance from the era.

A portion of all ticket sales will go to benefit Operation Gratitude, a nonprofit organization that sends letters and packages to current soldiers to help lift their spirits.

Performances are scheduled Saturday, May 31, at  2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and then a final performance on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m.
