Rockwall-Heath jumped out to a 13-0 lead and never looked back en route to an 86-70 victory over John Tyler on Tuesday at Boulter Middle School gym.
The Hawks improve to 13-7 overall and 2-0 in District 11-6A basketball play, while JT falls to 9-10 and 0-2.
Luke Cox led Rockwall-Heath with 27 points, all on 3-pointers.
Drake Brown and Kameron Pruitt each tossed in 15 points for the Hawks, while CJ Williams added 11.
Michael Hogg Jr. led five JT plays in double-figures scoring with 15 points. Darry Moore was next with 14 points, followed by Brad Blaylock with 11 and DaeCorian Jessie and Jaivon Williams with 10 points each.
In the first 2:18 of the game, Cox hit three 3-pointers to stake the Hawks to the 13-0 lead. Rockwall-Heath's biggest lead was 83-57 with 4:06 left in the game.
The JT home games are being played at the Boulter Viking gym while construction is ongoing
on the John Tyler campus.
John Tyler returns to play on Friday, traveling to Longview for a 7 p.m. varsity tipoff.
Rockwall-Heath plays host to Mesquite on Friday.
