The Troup Tigers are appearing in the state golf tournament for the 10th straight year.
Along with that remarkable mark, the Tigers hope to medal for the fourth consecutive spring when the UIL state golf tournament gets underway on Monday in the Austin area.
Along with Troup, Grapeland and Bullard will try to medal again as well as other East Texas individuals and teams.
Troup took the silver last year and in 2016. Those were sandwiches around the 2017 gold.
The Tigers will try to mine some more precious metals when the Class 3A Tournament unfolds at Grey Rock Golf Club in Austin.
The top three finishers return from last year — 1, Pottsboro; 2, Troup; and 3, New Diana.
Pottsboro's Austyn Reily is also back to defend his medalist honors. Troup's Jake Smelser, who recently signed with SFA, finished ninth last year.
Smelser's teammates include Brayden Marris, Corbin Whitsell, Chris Franklin and Bracey Cover.
New Diana's team includes: Will Leslie, Sam Benson, Blayde Weekley, Blayne Olazabal and Conner Walton.
Winnsboro's Will Langley and Nacogdoches Central Heights' Jack Summers are competing as medalist.
The Bullard Panthers took the bronze last year and look for more in 2019.
Bullard was led by the top 10 finish of Hayes Esposito, who tied for sixth. Others on Tim Moore's team include Garrett Esposito, Jensen Smith, Harrison Hopkins and Colton Kelley. All but Kelley were on the team last year.
They will tackle the Plum Creek Golf Club in Kyle.
Canton's Tristan Nelson and Paris North Lamar's Jackson Nottingham are returning to state as medalists and will be joined by Van's Austin Mitchell and Carthage's Miller Harris.
Grapeland would like to duplicate two things — the Sandies' title from a year ago and the Sandiettes' championship from last week.
Also, Grapeland's Rick Frauenberger is back to defend his medalist crown he won over Douglass' Trevor Roquemore, who is also returning.
The 3A teams will take on the Roy Kizer Golf Course in Austin.
Joining Frauenberger on the Grapeland team are Jack Woodford, Jason Bobbitt, Josh Ackley and Blake Howard.
Cayuga is also competing. The Wildcat team includes: Sean Currie, Andrew B. Scheppler, Elijah Lust and Ramsey Oden.
Kevin Nixon, of Martin's Mill, is competing as a medalist. He is part of the Martin's Mill streak of 18 consecutive years a golfer or a team has competed at state.
Last week, Nixon's sister Mia, won medalist honors in helping the Lady Mustangs to a runner-up silver.
The Class 1A tournament is being held at Lions Municipal Golf Course in Austin. Nicknamed Muny, the course was constructed in 1924.
The Union Hill Bulldogs will be competing. Team members include McCarson Youngblood, Cash Ables, Jakobé Griffis, Luke Batts and Trey Venters.
Also, Yantis' Kaiden Bush will be taking part as a medalist.
Mount Pleasant's Rustyn Goolsby and Hallsville's Lake Juban are competing as medalist in the 5A tourney, which is scheduled for White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
Goolsby won the Region II tournament.
