KILGORE — Richelle Velez, Kilgore College’s dynamic shooting guard, scored 11 of her team’s first 13 points to jump-start the Lady Rangers to a 103-55 win over Tyler Junior College on Saturday afternoon at Masters Gymnasium.

Velez, a 5-3 sophomore from Brazoswood High School, filled the nets for 29 points, including eight 3-pointers. Point guard Jade Thurmon, a sophomore from Ferris, added 25 points for the Lady Rangers (10-4, 4-1 in Region XIV).

Trelynn Tyler, a freshman guard from Grand Prairie, paced the Apache Ladies (8-7, 2-3) with 18 points, while Djhai Patterson-Ricks, a sophomore from Fayetteville, New York, added 11.

Keyneso Hunter and Jakieya Morgan led TJC with nine and eight rebounds, respectively.

Alicia Mardis led the Lady Rangers in rebounding with 10, while Velez and Thurmon had eight apiece.

The Apache Ladies will try to get back on track and break their three-game losing streak when they travel on Wednesday to Paris Junior College. Tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m. TJC returns home on Jan. 13 to face Panola College in a 2 p.m. contest.

Kilgore is scheduled to play at Bossier Parish CC on Wednesday (5:30 p.m.) and return to Kilgore on Jan. 13 to face Paris in a 2 p.m. game.
