Tyler Museum of Art has two big events in the coming weeks. An exhibit of new work by Tyler artist Abhidnya Ghuge opens Sept. 7. Little Black Dress, a fundraiser with East Texas Youth Orchestra, takes place Sept. 13.

“Apertures of the Mind: Works by Abhidnya Ghuge” features hand-carved woodblocks, ink and gouache drawings and mixed media pieces, including a large-scale installation made for the gallery space.

Her art is inspired by henna designs from her native India and work as a doctor and explores themes of community, time and value, said a statement from the museum.

For the first time, the museum and youth orchestra are joining forces for Little Black Dress, an event at the museum that includes art, performances by young musicians, a silent auction and dinner.

Proceeds will benefit both arts groups.

Tickets are $150. To make a reservation, call 903-595-1001 or go to tylermuseum.org.
