Pollard Theater Center is staging “The Wizard of Oz” through Sunday at Pollard United Methodist Church’s Founders Fine Art building, 3030 Copeland Road, Tyler.
Performances are set for 7:30 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
With a cast of almost 40 and a live orchestra, this “The Wizard of Oz” is based on the 1939 MGM movie and includes the iconic “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” made popular by Judy Garland.
Berri Harris, who has had roles in Pollard and Tyler Civic Theater productions, will fill the ruby red slippers of Dorothy as she leads Scarecrow (Regi Fowler), Tin Man (David Dickerson), and Cowardly Lion (Doug Ames) to the Land of Oz where they meet the Wizard (Bill Brown).
Along the way they come across Glinda, the Good Witch of the South (Erin Norris) and the Wicked Witch of the West (Kelsey Kilgore).
Helaina Wilkerson is the director. Arnold Sherman serves as musical director and Becky Clem is the producer. Carolyn Hardy, wardrobe supervisor, and her crew of nearly 30 have created the costumes.
