The initiative, if approved, would periodically highlight communities in Smith County during the weekly commissioner meetings, according to the meeting agenda.
The goal is two-fold, the agenda reads. The first is to highlight achievements of each city in the county, as well as to increase communication and cooperation between local governments.
The presentation will happen at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Smith County Courthouse Annex building, 200 E. Ferguson St. The meeting is open to the public.
Commissioners also will consider terminating an agreement with the Texas Department of Transportation to provide funds for the U.S. Highway 69 hurricane relief route.
The Court also could award construction contracts for four road projects. Those include County Road 149, or New England Road; County Road 2328, in Deerwood Estates; County Road 2323, or Wood Mead Drive; and County Road 2294, or Michael and Patrick’s Path.
Commissioners will consider a resolution supporting the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority’s (NET RMA) priority funding project for several transportation projects.
