Duke Ellis has been called up to the MLB by the Chicago White Sox ahead of Tuesday’s road game against the Chicago Cubs.

Ellis is the son of Bullard High School head baseball coach Robert Ellis.

Duke played his high school baseball at Central Heights High School and then played at Panola College and the University of Texas.

At Texas, Ellis was a .281 hitter with two home runs, 43 RBIs and 40 stolen bases.

In the minor leagues, Ellis, an outfielder, hit .242 with 200 hits, 13 home runs, 53 RBIs and 117 stolen bases. This season, Ellis is hitting .258 with 34 stolen bases for Double-A Birmingham.



Robert Ellis played four years in the majors, appearing in 29 games as a pitcher with California, Arizona, Los Angeles Dodgers and Texas. He was 7-7 with a 6.03 ERA and 54 strikeouts in 118 innings. Ellis won a World Series with Arizona in 2001.
