Daughters of the American Revolution to tour museum

Members and guests of the Maj. Thaddeus Beall Chapter of Daughters of the American Revolution will tour the Vanishing Texana Museum, 300 S. Bolton in Jacksonville, at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Larry Lydick, the museum’s curator, and his assistant, John Taylor, will speak to the group.

Hostesses for the meeting will be Vice Regent Deborah Burkett and Registrar Mary Taylor.

Smith County Retired Teachers will meet Tuesday

Smith County Retired Teachers and School Personnel Association will meet at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Plyler Instructional Center, 807 W. Glenwood Blvd. in Tyler.

Guest speaker Kay Odom, director of Tyler Senior Center, will speak on the importance for seniors staying active.

Tyler Aggie Moms Club to celebrate 70th anniversary

The Tyler Aggie Moms club will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a barbecue dinner and dance on Saturday, according to a news release from the group.

The event will be from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the TASCA Event Center, 10495 County Road 2167 in Whitehouse.

The Aggie Wranglers Dance Team and Six Miles to Mixon will perform. Tickets are $12 in advance and $20 at the door.

The evening will include fundraisers, with the money used for scholarships.

GlamProm Dress Closet will be in Tyler March 30

Empowerment Community Development Corp. will host its Glam-Prom Dress Closet from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. March 30 at the R.B. Hubbard Center, 304 E. Ferguson St., Tyler.

New and gently used prom dresses will be provided to high school girls who cannot afford formalwear. The site will be set up like a boutique, organizers said.

The dress closet is part of Empowerment’s “I Am Beautiful” initiative.
