Softball Roundup: Piper Morton homers twice, Lilly Waddell strikes out 13 in West Rusk win

WEST RUSK 5, SABINE 1
NEW LONDON — Piper Morton went deep twice and Lilly Waddell struck out 13 as West Rusk defeated Sabine.

Morton had two home runs and three RBIs, and Natalie Christy was 3-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Waddell allowed one earned run on three hits in seven innings with two walks.
Makenzie Cook pitched six innings for Sabine, allowing four earned runs on nine hits with five strikeouts and two walks. She also went 2-for-3 at the plate.
RAINS 4, GRAND SALINE 2
EMORY — Presley McAree homered, and Sage Hoover struck out 12 as Rains defeated Grand Saline.
Hoover pitched seven innings and allowed one earned run on four hits with three walks.
Trending
Leo Terry and Hoover each had a triple, and Jasmine Mott had two hits.
McAree drove in two runs with Mott and Sarah Coffman adding RBIs.
Terry scored two runs with McAree and Hoover scoring one each.
Delana Meyer struck out 10 in the circle for Grand Saline.
Hailey Darby had a triple, and J’Cea Melton added a double for Grand Saline. Meyer had a single and scored both runs for the Lady Indians.
Melton had an RBI.
HARMONY 10, WHITE OAK 0
HARMONY — Harmony recorded 14 hits in a 10-0 rout of White Oak on Thursday.
Kinzee Settles, Katelyn Welborn, Jenci Seahorn, Madi Rhame and Dacy Dawson all had two-hit performances.
Analese Caro allowed three hits with six strikeouts and one walk in five shutout frames.
JOAQUIN 9, ALTO 2
JOAQUIN — Addi Harvey drove in two runs to help Joaquin scored a 9-2 win over Alto on Friday in a District 22-2A softball game.
Ebbie McCann and Chrislyn Pean each had two hits for the Lady Rams.
Abby Benard led the Lady Jackets wtih a triple shy of the cycle. She had three hits and two RBIs. Kylee Powers, Abbie Teutsch and Arreli Perez added singles.
Bernard and Reanna Guinn scored Alto’s runs.
