Tyler Legacy Lady Raiders win district golf title

Tyler Legacy, led by medalist Isabella Miller and runner-up Emily Machin, captured the District 10-6A Girls Golf Tournament championship that was held at Sulphur Springs Country Club.

It was the second consecutive district medalist title for Miller. Machin won medalist in 2023. It is also the Lady Raiders third straight district championship.

The Lady Raiders, coached by John Taylor, won the championship with a 36-hole total of 654 (333-321), followed by Rockwall (331-331—662), Rockwall-Heath (371-364—735), Royse City (412-405—817), Tyler Legacy 2 (430-407—837), Longview (426-427—853), Rockwall-Heath 2 (448-423-871), and Forney (541-519—1060).

Miller won medalist honors with a 142, including a first-round score of 2-under 70 and a second round score of even-par 70.

Machin was silver medalist with a 149 (75-74). Calli Hoesterey of Rockwall was third medalist with a 150 (77-73).



Joining Miller and Machin on the district championship team were: Cline Cavender (89-87—176), Winnie Harbol (99-88—187) and Laura Freeman (101-92—193).

Members of the Longview Lady Lobos team includes: Mia Jones (98-102—200), Brooke Pevey (102-105—207), Sophie Golden (110-109—219), Hannah Woolsey (116-111—227), and Ava Ray (117-116—233).

Tyler Legacy advances to the Class 6A Region II Tournament, which is scheduled for April 14-15 at Eagle’s Bluff Country Club in Bullard.

At regionals the top three teams advance to the Class 6A state tournament, which is scheduled for May 6-7 at White Wing Golf Club in Georgetown.
