Tyler police search for suspect after 15-year-old was shot

A suspect is wanted after a 15-year-old was shot and injured Friday evening in Tyler.

Tyler Police Department said around 5:30 p.m. officers responded to the 900 block of Blackwell Avenue, near Tyler Junior College’s main campus, on a shooting call. They found a 15-year-old boy who had been shot in the leg.

The victim was awake and alert at the time and taken to a local hospital, police said.

The suspect is a Black male who is reportedly driving a white Kia Sorento with Texas LP# VNN7221.



“He and anyone in that vehicle should be considered armed and dangerous. This is not a random shooting,” Tyler police said.
