Lindale sweeps area series with Sunnyvale

LONE OAK — Lindale rallied from an early deficit to scored a 5-3 win on Friday, sweeping Sunnyvale in their Class 4A best-of-three baseball series.

The Eagles, who won Game 1 on Thursday 4-1, advance to meet Texarkana Pleasant Grove next week in the regional quarterfinals.

The Raiders took a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the second. The Eagles tied the game at 3-3 in the top of the fourth and went on top with two runs in the sixth.

Carson Plunkett led the Eagles with two hits (double, single) with Ryan Betts hitting a triple. Adding singles were Kaden Fleming, Jake Powell and Jake Curbow.

Betts had two RBIs with one each from Jackson Parker (1) and Powell (1).



Scoring runs were Ty McCoy, Colby Myers, Cody Henderick, Betts and Parker.

Hudson Legrow pitched a complete, allowing four hits and three runs (1 earned) with six strikeouts and two walks.

Sunnyvale had four singles — Weston McWhorter, Grayson Brown, Hunter Hitt and Grayson Smith. 

Jordan Tamez had an RBI.

Lindale, the District 16-4A champion, improves to 21-5-2, while Sunnyvale, runner-up from 13-4A, falls to 17-14.
