Eight cadets and one officer coming from another agency on Wednesday were sworn in as Tyler police officers by Chief Jimmy Toler at a Tyler Police Department badge ceremony at the department.

Officers Morgan Skidmore, Tristen Cowan, Corey Lupton, Rubi Bahena, Coleman Maves, David Tizcareno, Jared Stewart, Athena Drotzman and Jaime Olivarria were joined by family and friends as loved ones pinned each officer with their Tyler Police Department badge.

Toler said the special day is one of his favorites as a chief.

“There are certain days that have been my favorite as chief that I’ve had the opportunity to do, and this is one of them,” Toler said.
