Teon Erwin hits for 43 as Chapel Hill wins in Tatum

TATUM — Teon Erwin hit for 43 points and grabbed 21 rebounds to power the Chapel Hill Bulldogs to an 80-72 victory over the Tatum Eagles in a boys basketball game on Monday.

Chapel Hill coach Robert Sampson said it was the first Chapel Hill win in Tatum in more than a decade and his first win against the Eagles in 35 years of coaching.

Keyjun Thomas added 20 points, including 11 of 12 from the free throw line for the Bulldogs.

Chapel Hill led 40-24 at halftime, but the Eagles pulled within three, 52-49, at the end of the third quarter. However, the Bulldogs outscored the Eagles, 28-13, in the final period.

Other scorers for Chapel Hill were: Amorian Ford (7), D’Patre Thomas (4), Elijah Demus (2), DJ Wofford (2), CJ Ford (2) and Roderick Robertson (2).



Chapel Hill (4-8) will now head to Sour Lake to participate in the Hardin-Jefferson Marathon.

GIRLS: ALL SAINTS 51, TROUP 21

Madeline Perkins hit for 15 points, including two 3-pointers, as the All Saints Lady Trojans won their fourth straight game, a 51-21 decision over Troup on Monday in a girls basketball game at Brookshire Gym.

All Saints, fresh off capturing its own Bruce G. Brookshire Basketball Classic, improves to 5-5 on the season.

Other scorers for the Lady Trojans were Hannah Widman (8), Lauren Datwyler (7), Olivia Patterson (4), Brooklyn Findley (4), Tori Atwood (4), Grace Wolfe (4), Eyan Absar (3) and Shelby Phillips (2).

Ty Moon led the Lady Tigers with 17 points, while Jessie Minnix and Ajaya Hampton added two each.

All Saints will participate in Brownsboro’s Great East Texas Shootout this weekend.

The Lady Trojans meet No. 1 Martin’s Mill at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Brownsboro Elementary School. The winner advances to the 5 p.m. game on Friday (high school gym), while the loser will play at 9:30 a.m. Friday (intermediate school gym).

The Lady Tigers will take part in the Gary Basketball Tournament on Dec. 6-8.

GIRLS: TYLER HEAT 49, LONGVIEW TRINITY 17

LONGVIEW — Ryan Kirksey had 14 points to pace the Tyler HEAT to a 45-17 win over Trinity School of Longview on Monday in a girls basketball game.

Others scoring for HEAT were Tanner Stovall (8), Emily Gonzales (7), Loriann Tiemann (4), Aloea Reed (4), Rachel Taylor (4), Claire Monce (2) and Tanae Thompson (2).

The Tyler squad will now play in the Great East Texas Shootout on Thursday in Brownsboro, taking on Grace Community at 8 a.m. Thursday at the Brownsboro HS gym. The winner will play at 6:15 p.m. Thursday (high school gym) with the loser playing at 5 p.m. Thursday (intermediate school gym).

GIRLS: BROWNSBORO 52, KILGORE 49

BROWNSBORO — Kentoya Woods, Mekhayia Moore and Paris Miller all hit in double figures to lead the Brownsboro Bearettes to a 52-49 win over Kilgore on Monday.

Woods led with 15 points, with Moore and Miller pitching in 13 and 12, respectively. Other scorers for the 11-3 Bearettes were Alexis Rumbo (5), Alexis Hambrick (2), Alexa Soong (2) and Cami Wyatt (2).

Jamaria Thomas led Kilgore with 19 points, five steals and four rebounds. Others contributing for the Lady Bulldogs were Jada Abercrombie (11 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals), Miah Thomas (10 points, 5 rebounds, 2 steals) and Kaleeia Johnson (3 points, 8 rebounds).

Brownsboro hosts the Great East Texas Shootout beginning Thursday. The Bearettes play Gladewater at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
