JT meeting Lancaster at Mesquite Memorial Stadium

The John Tyler Lions (8-2) and the Lancaster Tigers (7-3) will meet in a Class 5A Division I area playoff football game on Saturday, Nov. 24 at Mesquite Memorial Stadium.
Kickoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. JT is the visitor.

The Lions, the champions of District 7-5A, won their bi-district game over Tomball, 43-17, on Friday in Tyler. The Tigers, runners-up in District 6-5A, won their bi-district game over Frisco Wakeland, 49-28, on Friday in Lancaster.
The Tyler ISD is on Thanksgiving break this week so there will be no presale tickets. All tickets will be $8 at the gate.
The Lions and Tigers have met twice. Lancaster won 26-21 in 2012, while JT captured a 31-28 win in 2013.
The winner of the JT vs. Lancaster game will face the winner of the Lufkin vs. Frisco Lone Star game next week in regionals.
Lufkin (10-1) and Frisco Lone Star (9-2) are scheduled to play at 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Baylor University’s McLane Stadium in Waco.
There will be two games at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Rose Stadium on Friday, Tyler ISD athletic director Greg Priest said.

The first game on Friday is a Class 3A Division I Region II area playoff matching the Kemp Yellowjackets (9-2) vs. Atlanta Rabbits (6-5).
Kickoff on Earl Campbell Field is set for 12:30 p.m.
The Kemp-Atlanta winner will face Dallas Madison or Mount Vernon in regionals.
The second game on Friday has the Woodville Eagles (11-0) meeting the Grandview Zebras (9-2) in a Class 3A Division I Region III area playoff. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
The winner of Woodville-Grandview will face the Franklin-Troy winner next week in regionals.
