Rosemary Owens McDaniel, 88, of Austin, TX, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2018. Rosemary was born at Heights Hospital in Houston on September 26, 1930, to Raymond and Wilma Owens. She grew up in the Heights and attended Reagan High School. Immediately after marrying Don McDaniel, they were able to take Don’s brothers and sister out of an orphanage in Arkansas and care for them, as their own, for a number of years. She partnered with Don as they bought houses to rent and resell. Rosemary also retired from the credit department of Sears and Roebuck in Houston.
Don preceded her in death after 69 years of marriage.

She is survived by daughter, Linda McDaniel Hulsey and her husband Paul Hulsey; granddaughter, Clarissa Hulsey Bailey and husband Ed Bailey of Austin, Texas; grandson Jeremy Hulsey and wife Rachel Hulsey of Middleton, Wisconsin; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Jerry and Christina McDaniel of Georgetown, Texas. Rosemary is also survived by great-grandchildren Atlas Broadhead and Davis Bailey of Austin and Rose, Camille, and Benjamin Hulsey of Middleton, Wi., and multiple cousins, nieces, and nephews. Rosemary was a self-taught Southern cook who enjoyed making Holiday meals for her family. She loved to read and to travel around the country visiting National Parks. She was a classic beauty of style and poise, who enjoyed reminiscing about her childhood with her cousins, uncles, and aunts at Owens family reunions.
