Whitehouse cruises past Mount Pleasant, 43-14

MOUNT PLEASANT — Jaden Haskins rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns on 17 carries as Whitehouse opened District 9-5A, Division II play with a 43-14 win over Mount Pleasant Friday night at Sam Parker Field.
Whitehouse received three starters back from injury on Friday — receiver/quarterback Cameron Cantrell, kicker/defensive back Cooper Clemons and offensive lineman Dylan Roundtree.

Haskins had touchdown runs of 7 and 3 yards to give Whitehouse and early 14-0 lead.
After catching Mount Pleasant off-guard with an onside kicker, the Wildcats got a 7-yard touchdown pass from Flint Herrington to Kendrion Johnson.
Herrington and Johnson connected for three touchdown passes in the first half.
Herrington was 18 of 29 for 303 yards with four touchdowns and an interception. Johnson had eight grabs for 118 yards and three touchdowns.
Cantrell added a 39-yard touchdown catch.
Skyler Trevino recovered a fumble, and LeJavion Mosley intercepted a pass for the Wildcats.

Whitehouse (3-1, 1-0) will host Jacksonville on Oct. 5. Mount Pleasant (2-2, 0-1) will travel to Longview to take on Pine Tree.
