John Tyler dominates Texas High in all facets of 51-13 district-opening win

TEXARKANA — After a slow start, John Tyler got rolling en route to an impressive 51-13 win over Texas High on Friday night in northeast Texas.
JT limited the Tigers to just 22 total yards and one first down in the second half in opening District 7-5A Division I football play at Tiger Stadium at Grim Park.

It was the fifth straight win for the Lions over the Tigers and they now lead the series 40-28-2.
JT improved to 2-2 on the season an 1-0 in league play, while the Tigers fell to 2-3 and 0-1.
The Lions combined for 509 total yards and limited the Tigers to 205.
Cameron Grant rushed for 122 yards on just eight attempts, including touchdown dashes of 13 and 16 yards. Roderick Hawkins rushed nine times for 89 yards and TD runs of 54 and 15 yards.
The JT offensive line of Chance Billington, Braylon Johnson, Angel Sarmiento, Christian Camacho, Victor Gomez and Ja’Bralen Yarber cleaned the way up front for 363 rushing yards.
Woods hit on 6 of 14 passing attempts for 146 yards and TD passes of 10 and 61 yards to K’Lon Warren and a 19-yarder to Ke’Andre Street.

Frankie Sanchez had a 32-yard field goal.
In the first half, Coltin Clack, the Tigers’ 6-3, 220-pounder, threw for 177 yards in the first half but only 17 in the second.
The Lions sacked Clack seven times and Jared Mosley picked off a pass.
Darien Warren had two sacks as did Christian Hartsfield and Kobe Beed. Others in on sacks were Street, Tyrell Jones and Jarrius Lane.
Texas High scored the first 10 points in the first quarter before JT rolled off 27 straight points.
JT finally plays a home game next Friday against Wylie East, It is homecoming. Texas High visits McKinney.
