Sheriff raids Lindale site for alleged illegal gambling

Smith County law enforcement officials shut down a suspected illegal gambling operation and seized three gaming machines, paperwork associated with the operation and $13,000 in cash.
The investigation began in late June when detectives learned there were multiple gaming machines being operated at the Oasis gas station in the 1400 block of Texas Highway 110 North in Lindale, according to a news release the sheriff’s office issued Thursday.

Undercover investigators went into the store on multiple occasions and saw the machines being operated in an illegal manner, according to the sheriff’s office.
The sheriff’s office said detectives obtained a search warrant on Wednesday.
Officials with the sheriff’s office and Smith County Precinct 5 Constable’s Office executed the search warrant on Thursday.
The investigation is ongoing.
No arrests have been made, but criminal charges may be filed when the investigation is complete, according to the sheriff’s office.
