STAGE: Texas Shakespeare Festival season debuts with opening performances

The Texas Shakespeare festival continues in Kilgore with performances in the Anne Dean Turk Fine Arts Center on the Kilgore College campus. 

The festival is presenting “King John,” “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” “Tartuffe,” the musical “110 in the Shade,” the children’s show “The Lovely Stepsister” and “The Belle of Amherst,” a one-woman show on the life of Emily Dickinson.

Performances set from June 29 to July 5 are: 

  • June 29: 7:30 p.m., “Tartuffe”
  • June 30: 7:30 p.m., “King John”
  • July 1: 7:30 p.m., “110 in the Shade”
  • July 5: 2 p.m., “110 in the Shade;” 7:30 p.m., “Love’s Labour’s Lost”

“ALICE IN WONDERLAND JR.”



Tyler Civic Theatre’s summer arts camp students will present “Alice in Wonderland Jr.” at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the theater, 400 Rose Park Drive. Tickets are available at tylecivictheatre.com or by calling  903-592-0561.

“SEUSSICAL JR.”

The students in the Grace Community School Summer Drama Camp will stage “Seussical Jr.,” a musical based on Dr. Seuss stories, at 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. Friday at the school.

The cast and crew are made up of elementary and middle school students from throughout the county. Tickets will be sold at the door.
