Man who threw Smith County deputy through a window sentenced to

A Tyler man who pushed a Smith County deputy through a window was sentenced to __

Deputies were attempting to take Tyler Shane Kennedy, 28, into custody on a felony warrant for child endangerment on Feb. 5. 

Kennedy began fighting with the deputies, injuring one of them by pushing him out of a window. 

Deputies placed a tourniquet on Deputy Joshua Cox’s arm due to the severe laceration to his left wrist and palm area. 

Cox was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.



Kennedy has been held in the Smith County jail since his arrest on Feb. 5. Kennedy’s bond for the aggravated assault against a public servant, a first-degree felony was set at $750,000.  

Kennedy’s judicial record in Smith County dates back to 2007. It includes several other arrests for engaging in organized crime and driving while intoxicated.
