DPS offering reward for Nacogdoches gang member

The Texas Department of Public Safety has added a man with ties to Nacogdoches County to its Texas 10 Most Wanted Fugitives list.
Jack Earl Sterns Jr., 27, has been wanted since December 2017.

He is affiliated with the Crips gang, is wanted for parole violation, aggravated robbery and evading arrest. His criminal history includes aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, engaging in organized criminal activity, assault, unlawful carrying of a weapon, deadly conduct, evading arrest and drug possession.
DPS is offering a cash reward of up to $7,500 for information leading to his capture.
Sterns is 5 feet 11 inches tall and weighs about 230 pounds. He has tattoos on his abdomen, back, chest, both arms and right leg, and scars on his abdomen, back, left leg and right forearm.
Sterns may also be known by the nickname “Jay Jay.”
Sterns is a violent offender who has a history of serving time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice prison. He was last released on parole in June 2016.
The Texas Board of Pardons and Paroles issued a warrant for Sterns’ arrest for a parole violation on December 6, 2017.

The Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office issued a warrant for Sterns’ arrest for two counts of aggravated robbery on December 20, 2017.
An additional warrant has since been issued for Sterns’ arrest for evading arrest with prior conviction.
DPS urges the public to not attempt to apprehend these fugitives; they are considered armed and dangerous.
To be eligible for the cash rewards, tipsters MUST provide information to authorities using one of the five following methods:
• Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
• Text the letters “DPS” – followed by your tip – to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
• Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.
• Submit a Facebook tip by clicking the “SUBMIT A TIP” link (under the “About” section).
• Submit a tip through the DPS Mobile App. The app is currently available for iPhone users on the Apple App Store and for Android users on Google Play.
All tips are anonymous – regardless of how they are submitted – and tipsters will be provided a tip number instead of using a name.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders. Last year, Texas Crime Stoppers paid $61,000 in total rewards for anonymous tips that resulted in arrests.
